Things you should know !

GENERAL RULE;

At the start of each inning make note of the current status of the Starting pitcher.

The current per-inning, in-game grade, will be the starting point for all advancements and drops in grade for that game.

Starting Pitching Advancement and Reduction Flow chart;

At anytime any pitcher,(starters and relievers), gives up 6 runs in the current game, their grade drops to a D, for the remainder of that game.

Zero runs given up;

Starting Pitcher advancement to grade A, may ignore their BF until a run is scored or the end of the game.

1 Run given up;

Before the Pitchers allowed Batters Faced number(BF); the Starter remains as the carded grade.

After the Pitchers allowed Batters Faced number(BF);

(From the Starters current grade in that inning, advanced in grade by shutout innings or not),

the Starter will drop 1 grade for each inning started past the BF number,(inning).

Runs given up, 2 and 4.

After the 6th inning the Starter will drop 1 full grade for every 2 runs scored against.

Ex. grade C, BF22 in 6th(zero runs) -- 7th inn, grade B, BF#26, a HR hit,(1 run given up), -1 grade, (1 inning started past BF).

New grade for 7th inn. batter #27, C.

Same but the run happens in the 8th, Starter was Grade A, 2 innings started from the Starters BF is -2 grades, (1 for each inning),

the Starter faces the next batter as a Grade C pitcher. (and would need to start the 9th or give up a 2nd run, to be a Grade D.)
