SEASONAL HIGHLIGHTS:
The Saddleback Sharks survive a 7-23 skid but finish strong with a 6 game sweep in the season finale against the Texas Tornadoes to finish 47-37 which was just good enough to win their 7th Division Title
and send the Sharks to the playoffs for the 9th time in franchise history.
Along the way the Sharks enjoyed an 11 Game Win Streak which was the 2nd longest in franchise history, behind a 15 game streak in 2006.
However that streak was cancelled out when they suffered a franchise worst, 11 game Losing streak as well.
Craig Kimbrel earned 30 Saves in 2018 surpassing and setting a new franchise AND SCBL record along the way passing Roberto Hernandez of the Santa Ana Sharks who had 27 Saves in 1997.
Scooter Gennett hit 5 lead off home runs in 2018 tying the franchise record with Mike Trout who hit 5 in 2013 and Jason Kipnis who also hit 5 in 2017.
Gennett now has 6 Career lead off home runs trailing Edgar Renteria who is the franchise leader with 8.
Orlando Arcia had the longest hitting streak of the year at 13 games, just 7 games behind Mike Trout who holds the franchise record with 20 games in 2014.
As a team, the Sharks set single season bests in RBI's with 397, bettering 396 set in 2014, and the Sharks hit .262 on the season which was a tick better
than the .261 batting average they posted in 2013 and 2014 and the Shark pitching staff logged 767 strikeouts in 2018, five more then the 762 that last years staff turned in.
Now looking ahead to the post season the Sharks first challenge will be against the Pedro Bombers, but even a bigger monkey on the Sharks back is their 3-16 Post Season Record since the 2013 World Series.

The Sharks are now 5-19 in their last 24 games and pretty sure this run has been historic in the 27 years the Sharks played in the SCBL.
However as bleak as it looks we are going to try and focus on some of the positives of the last 24 games.
In Game #55, against the Mack City Trucks, Clayton Kershaw struck out Corey Seager in the 6th inning for his 1,120th Strikeout as a Shark, tying him for 2nd place with Tom Glavine on the Sharks All Time Strike Out List, just 88 Strikeouts behind franchise leader Roger Clemens.
In Game #58 against the Mack City Trucks the Sharks erupted for 17 runs for the first time scoring that many runs since they scored 17 runs against the Orange Titans in 1996. In Game #69 against the Santa Ana Scrubs, Clayton Kershaw struck out 16 Scrubs in his complete game victory which is his career best and the 4th highest in franchise history. Jack McDowell and RA Dickey both have 17, Black Jack did it against the Orange City Monsters in 1996 and Dickey did it against the Huntington Beach Misfits in 2013. The Franchise record is 21 by Roger Clemens against the Orange Titans in the Championship Season of 1997.
In Game #70 the Sharks and Santa Ana Scrubs played a 15 inning game for the fifth time in franchise history and the first one since 2016 against the La Habra Angels. The Sharks longest game was 22 Innings against the Villa Park Spartans in 1993.

This was Scooter Gennett's 7th career lead off home run putting him just one behind Edgar Renteria who is the franchise leader with 8 lead off homers.
The Sharks will try to get back on the winning track on Tuesday against the Pedro Bombers but worst case, we won't be losing no draft picks!!! LOL
July 30th
Big month traveling to DC for the All-Star game and then to St Louis for the Health Coach convention.... It was an epic two weeks, besides Nationals Park also made my first visit to Camden Yards too!!! Got six rounds of golf in and did some pretty cool sightseeing..... Now back to reality.... Got roughed up by the Trucks tonight only winning two of four.... But trust me, it could have been way worse.... Now time to focus on the last two months and try to right the ship!!!

Oh and PS..... At the begins of the year, you asked my what my post season record was and I was having some hard drive issues and did not know it right off hand.... Since the 13 World Series we are 3-16!!! In 2013 Billy Butler hit a 9th inning Walk Off, Game Ending, Series Ending Grand Slam in Game 7 against the Claremont Sultans to send the Sharks to the World Series and it has literally been ALL downhill since then.....
2013 World Series went 1-4 against Barracudas
